Today, I want to share with you the story of Saint Abanoub, a 12-year-old boy who died for Christ in the 4th century. He is one of the most beloved saints in the Coptic Orthodox Church, and his relics are in Samanoud, Egypt, where many miracles happen. The story of a brave young saint who inspired me with his faith and courage. His name is Saint Abanoub and he was only twelve years old when he was martyred by the Roman ruler for confessing his love for Jesus Christ. He was born in a town called Nehisa in the Nile Delta to Christian parents who died when he was a young child. He gave all his possessions to the poor and needy and then walked to a city called Samanoud, where he had a vision of the Archangel Michael who told him that he would suffer for three days there and in other places. He boldly declared his faith before the governor and insulted his idols, which enraged him and made him order Abanoub to be whipped, burned, hanged, and stabbed. But the Lord showed his power and healed Abanoub from all his wounds, and many soldiers who witnessed these miracles became Christians and were martyred with him. Abanoub was then taken to another city called Atribis, where he faced more torture and more wonders happened. Finally, he was taken to Alexandria, where he was beheaded and received the crown of martyrdom. His relics are still preserved in St. Virgin Mary and St. Abanoub church in Samanoud, Egypt, where many apparitions and miracles occur until this day.
