Saint Demiana was a Christian martyr born in third century Egypt. She was the only child of her pious Christian parents and refused to marry at a young age, choosing instead to devote her life solely to God. She asked her father Mark to build her a house on the outskirts of the city, where she became the leader of a group of devout virgins. During the reign of the Roman Emperor Diocletian, who tortured and killed Christians, St. Demiana's father was asked to offer incense to the idols but recanted and was killed. When soldiers were sent to persuade St. Demiana to worship the idols, she refused and was tortured before being beheaded along with the forty virgins. Her miraculous healing and faith helped enlighten many, and a church was built in her name. Her feast day is on January 21st. 🌹 The Coptic Church celebrates Saint Demiana on Jan 21st to Feb 13th!
